ROCK PAINTING - SUNDAY JULY 2

It's always a good time to make someone smile, so this Sunday we're helping you do just that!
If you haven't heard of Northeast Ohio Rocks!, here's a little info from the group page:

"Our group exists as an act of random kindness to unexpectedly brighten someone's day one rock at a time and to pass it on. That is our mission; our goal. In doing this, we receive benefits as well. When we are creating our mind is moved away from the stress in our lives and the issues in the world. When we hide rocks we are giving and that just feels good. When we are looking for rocks to paint and looking for painted rocks we are out in the fresh air and sunshine. When our rocks are found and posted, we are overcome by excitement."

Come to the Copley Community Park on Sunday, July 2nd, to get started on your own rock to hide and make someone smile when they find it!

This is a free event and rocks and painting supplies will be provided, though you will need to use a clear coat spray paint at home to protect your work afater the paint dries.

TAI CHI

Take a Tai Chi class near the pond with White Birch Tai Chi at The Hub Community Center! Classes will begin at 3:00 and the cost is $5/person. To sign up, please contact Larry Vincent at 330-329-5990 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

A few words from Larry:

"Tai Chi Chuan is a traditional martial art and, as it is practiced in the west today, can best be thought of as a moving form of yoga and meditation combined. The movements were originally derived from the martial arts although they are performed slowly, softly and gracefully with smooth and even transitions between them. Classes include training in the movements, or forms, meditation, and self-defense.

"Larry Vincent, the owner of White Birch Traditional Martial Arts, has been training in the martial arts for over 25 years and teaching for over 20 years. He opened the White Birch Traditional Martial Arts school in the Akron area in 2000 and is currently located in Kent, Ohio, teaching traditional Chinese martial arts classes 6 days a week."

Transient Vendors in Copley Township

Recent court actions have affirmed the right of the transient vendor to do business in townships and municipalities. Consequently, the Copley Township Board of Trustees is being forced to amend its Resolution passed in 2008 prohibiting transient vendors in our Township. The amended resolution will be discussed and voted upon at the next regularly scheduled meeting on June 21, 2017 beginning at 4:30 pm.

Transient Vendors interested in doing business in Copley Township will be required to submit an application 14 days in advance of their solicitation. The information will be verified through our Police Department and the vendor will be required to pay a fee of $100.00. They will be given a list of rules which will include hours they are permitted to solicit and a requirement to carry a copy of the license with them at all times. The regulations will prohibit solicitation in residences or businesses that display signage that prohibits peddling or soliciting activities.

The Township will be compiling a “No Knock” list which we will supply to the vendors along with the rules. Vendors will be prohibited from soliciting to residences or businesses appearing on the list. If you would like to be placed on the list, please contact the Town Hall by calling 330-666-1853 or by sending an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . In addition, you may download the attached “No Solicitation” sign, print a copy and place it in a conspicuous place at the front of your residence or you may purchase a sign at Staples or Office Depot. The Township is working on securing signs that will be free to residents – please call before coming to the Town Hall to make sure they are available.

Please don’t hesitate to call the Town Hall or our Dispatch Center at (330) 666-8866 if you have any question as to the validity of a vendor knocking at your door; they will have a list of all valid licenses that have been issued. You have every right to ask for credentials and are under no obligation to pay attention to their sales pitch.
