SCPH Press Release For Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccination of Ages 12-15

Clarification on the FDA approval for Pfizer COID-19 vaccination of ages 12-15
[Akron, OH] – On Monday May 10, 2021 Pfizer and BioNTech was given Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to vaccinate ages 12-15 years of age. The next step will be for the Center
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to meet on Wednesday May 12, 2021 to discuss whether to recommend the vaccine for
12-15 year olds. The steps could be completed in a matter of days and the vaccine administration could begin after the CDC adopts ACIPs recommendations.
In anticipation that the ACIP recommendation will be for use of the Pfizer vaccine in children ages 12-15. SCPH is providing opportunities for children ages 12-15 to be vaccinated. SCPH
will be hosting an extended drive thru clinic next Wednesday May 19, 2021 from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM. SCPH will also host Pfizer drive thru clinics every Wednesday from 1:00 – 3:30 at
1867 W. Market St., Akron Ohio through June 30, 2021. Appointments for the drive thru clinics at SCPH can be scheduled by calling the COVID-19 call center at 330-926-5795; however walkins
will also be accepted.
SCPH will also offer Pfizer vaccine at the National Missing Kids day event on May 22, 2021 from 12:00 – 3:00 pm held at Hardesty Park at 1615 W. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44313.
Please note that a parent or legal guardian must be present for anyone under the age of 18 wishing to receive a vaccination.
Even after vaccination we ask that you continue to engage in safe and effective behaviors to reduce the spread of COVID-19:
Stay home if you’re sick, even with mild symptoms
Be mindful in your interactions with others. Limit your chances of exposure by maintaining social distancing of at least six feet from non-household members
Wear a mask in public
Consider necessary travel only
Follow good hygiene standards:
Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Use hand sanitizer frequently
Avoid touching your face
Cover coughs and sneezes
