Copley Township Police Dept. receives complaints of speeding on several roads within the Township. To help combat and reduce the excessive speeds, radar signs were purchased and mounted in locations where the most complaints are generated. Most of these roads are cut-through roads or roads that lead out of allotments to arterial or collector roads that lead to main highways or interstates. The radar signs display the current speed of approaching traffic so the driver is made aware of how fast they are traveling. If the speed limit is exceeded, the radar signs begin to flash the speed to get the driver’s attention to slow down. The radar signs have been effective but there are some drivers that still do not slow down. In order to reduce speeds for all traffic, Copley Township will be installing traffic calming devices on Township-maintained roads. Traffic calming devices are rubberized raised humps that rise 3”-4” in the middle that require all vehicles to slow down to cross. Township Trustees would like to hear from all the residents before moving forward to maximize the effort to help resolve this issue. The Township Board of Trustees values input from the residents in all matters and this survey will assist in the decision making process of where to locate these devices for maximum effect.
