FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SCPH, METRO RTA Partner to Provide COVID-19 Vaccinations, Bus Passes to Residents

[Akron, OH] – Summit County Public Health has partnered with METRO RTA to host a pop-up
vaccination clinic on August 26, 2021 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Robert K. Pfaff Transit
Center located at 631 S. Broadway St., Akron, Ohio 44311 to reach Summit County residents
and discuss the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination. METRO will be offering a 31–Day bus pass
for fixed-routes, valued at $50.00, to be put on the individuals EZfare mobile ticket app to those
who are vaccinated on the 26th. “This event will again give our staff the opportunity to discuss
the benefits of COVID-19 vaccinations. Sometimes that face to face conversation is all it takes
to get someone to change their mind about being vaccinated. We want to thank METRO for
their support and for allowing us to use their facility and providing free bus passes to those who
get vaccinated” states Summit County Public Health Commissioner, Donna Skoda.

Ohio Medicaid and MyCare will have representatives at the METRO station on August 26th,
with $100.00 gift cards for eligible Medicaid/MyCare participants (18 and over) who receive
their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. SCPH will offer all three vaccines at the clinic on the
26th.

SCPH wants to encourage all residents, including those who are unvaccinated, to continue to
engage in safe and effective behaviors to reduce the spread of COVID-19:

 Stay home if you’re sick, even with mild symptoms
 Be mindful in your interactions with others. Limit your chances of exposure by maintaining
social distancing of at least six feet from non-household members
 Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
 Wear a mask in public
 Consider necessary travel only
 Follow good hygiene standards
 Use hand sanitizer frequently
 Avoid touching your face
