[ARCHIVED] Message from Police Chief Michael Mier

The Summit County  Common Pleas Court ordered that a male resident of Brentwood Blvd. in Copley vacate his home in connection with an ongoing civil/domestic case before the court. The court received information that the male would possibly resist any efforts to force him from the home, including the use of violent means.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Department was empowered to make certain the male had vacated the residence by 10:00 AM on February 10, 2023. The Sheriff’s Department communicated with Copley Police and the two departments coordinated an effort check the home while protecting the neighboring residents.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team made numerous efforts to communicate with the male in the home in an effort to seek his voluntary compliance. When those efforts failed, the SWAT Team forced entry into the home and secured the male without further incident.

The scene was secure within eight minutes. The community at large was not in any danger and should have no concerns at this time.
