Programs and Services
The Copley Fire Department has evolved from a "traditional" firefighting department to one which provides responses to all hazards. We provide many other services to Township residences and businesses.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training
AHA "Heartsaver®" CPR classes are held at our Stony Hill Station at 4570 Medina Road in Copley. Residents and businesses alike will receive certification in CPR and AED through a class conducted by Copley Fire Department personnel. If you have a group of 5 or more, we can schedule a class date and time that works for you and the instructors. Payment for invoicing should be made out to Copley Township. The class costs $35 per person, which helps pay for the card and equipment used in the class. To schedule or sign up for a class, email Firefighter Andy Howell at ahowell@copley.oh.us.
Scheduled Classes Available

June 17, 2026 - 9 a.m. - Noon
September 16, 2026 - 9 a.m. - Noon
For regularly scheduled classes, please sign up by the 15th of the month prior so we can plan for classroom accommodations and instructors. Dates for 2026 are currently being decided upon, if you are seeing this message and have any questions about dates, please call (330) 666-4218.
Fire Extinguishers
Training in the proper use of fire extinguishers is provided to local businesses using a jointly-owned fire extinguisher training prop. This equipment was purchased through Youth Fire Prevention, Inc., a shared service entity made up of representatives from the Bath, Copley, Fairlawn, and Richfield Fire Departments. To schedule a class call the Fire Department Administrative Assistant, Keely Meissner, at 330-666-6464.
Car Seats
If you would like assistance with installing a car seat in your vehicle, please contact us to have one of our trained car seat technicians install your seat for you. They will show you the proper use of the seat, and check to make sure the seat is the appropriate type and is safe to use. To schedule an installation, please call the Fire Department Administrative Assistant, Keely Meissner, at 330-666-6464.
Residential Knox Box Program
The fire department has a stock of special key boxes for our residents with functional needs. A set of keys to access your residence is stored inside the box, which may only be opened with a special key stored securely in our fire vehicles and ambulances. To determine if you are eligible to receive a Residential Knox Box, or to schedule your installation, please call the Fire Department Administrative Assistant, Keely Meissner, at 330-666-6464.
Summit County Special Operations Response Teams (SCSORT)
Comprised of the Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Response Team, Technical Rescue Operations Team, and Water/Dive Rescue Team, SCSORT provides specialized rescue and emergency responses to all of Summit County including Copley Township. The teams are comprised of members of local fire departments in Summit County, and Copley has nine personnel on these teams including our Fire Chief who is on the SORT Executive Board. These teams may be deployed throughout the 13 counties which make up Ohio Emergency Management Region 5, or anywhere else in the State through the Ohio Fire Chief's Emergency Plan. The HAZMAT Team is classified as a Type I, which means it may also be deployed nationally.
