Chief Michael Mier has served in local-level law enforcement for 40 years. He started with the former Northhampton Township Police Department but spent the greater portion of his career in the Cleveland Metropolitan area. He served with the Warrensville Heights Police Department as a patrol officer, sergeant, lieutenant, and acting Chief of Police. During that time, Michael Mier specialized in drug, gang, and juvenile investigations and served as the department Arson Investigator.
Chief Mier, a lifetime resident of Summit County, graduated from both the University of Akron and Kent State University, majoring in criminal justice studies. He came to the Copley Police Department where he has served as the Chief of Police since December 1999.
